I’ve been stuck on my Damien Rice pandora station lately–it sort of matches the bleak grayness the Washington, DC area has struggled with this entire week. (But it’s finally sunny!!) I’m not sure if I’ve posted this song by Marie Digby, but I always enjoy it when it reaches the top of the queue.
Ok, and I guess this next one is kind of depressing, too. I swear I’m not depressed, I just love Martha Wainwright, and I think this song is awesome.
In other news, my niece has a swim meet this weekend (she’s 8!), and as I jokingly mentioned to my brother that I’m just waiting for the day she can handle the swim leg of a relay tri, it made me realize how much I miss not having a race to train for at the moment. 2011 was awesome, in 2012 my races and motivation sort of fell apart, and 2013 is a bit of a transition year. This year, I need to focus on gaining motivation and strength again, and in 2014 I think I’d like to head back to New Hampshire and give Timberman another shot. Maybe next time I’ll break 6 hours? Or is it time I bite the bullet and actually find a full Ironman to train for? An Ironman is on my bucket list and it’s something I’d like to do soon. It’s daunting because 1) I suck at swimming and 2) I’d have to buy a new bike, and that ish is expensive, but I really, really miss how my body felt while I was training for Timberman. At the very least, I think I might throw my bike on the trainer this weekend, just for shits and giggles, and perchance Neal and I can convince one another to go for a swim at one point.
And then of course in addition to working out this weekend, I plan on making chocolate cake with chocolate icing, because that’s how I roll.
Not much else to discuss–it has been a slow, quiet week. I finished Great Expectations and am currently working on The Age of Miracles. I’ll post reviews of both soon. I’m hoping we can find time this weekend to sit down with a financial adviser so we can check that off of the list, and it looks like I have to go back to the DMV because they messed up my new name. Le sigh. The good news is, the DMV I go to is a bajillion times better than the SSA I had to endure last week, so I can manage a second trip (even though I’m not particularly thrilled about it.) I’m still not quite sure what my name is, though. Now that the court approved the new name and I have a new social security card, I guess that’s it? I was filling out a form just this morning and had it all completed with the exception of, “Full Name.” LOL. I DON’T KNOW! I’m guessing it’ll all feel normal soon enough?
As far as tonight is concerned, I anticipate a workout, a hot shower, some fleece pajama pants, and potentially general tso’s chicken. Seems like a grade A Friday night in my book!!
